Learn how we validate our projects

The Pinwheel Rating System ensures that only the world’s most effective projects make it into a plan. We assess projects across multiple criteria. For carbon, that includes the time carbon is expected to be locked away for and its security, the scalibility of the project, its social impact, and whether we can be sure that our funding will deliver additional impact.

Projects score points against each of nine rating categories and our algorithm converts these points into a grade A-E. We only fund A-C graded projects.
